House of Dog Training
DID YOU KNOW WE HAVE A FREE 15 MINUTE "GET TO KNOW YOU CALL"? IF YOU DON'T KNOW IF YOU NEED A TRAINER, HAVE A SMALL PROBLEM WE MAY BE ABLE TO TALK YOU THROUGH OR IF YOU ARE JUST UNSURE WHICH OF OUR SERVICES IS RIGHT FOR YOU, PLEASE CALL US AND ONE OF OUR TRAINERS WILL BE HAPPY TO HELP!
We offer private lessons in your home or at our facility. The initial session includes a 1/2 hour free consultation. All follow up sessions are 1 hour and should be about 2 weeks apart. Private at the facility is $75 and when we come to you it's $150.
Socialization is very important when raising puppies. Many behavior problems in adults could have been prevented given the right socialization. Therefore we offer free puppy playtime for puppies between 8 - 16 weeks old. Puppies from 4 - 6 months pay only $10. These playgroups are about 20 - 30 minutes long and limited to 5 puppies. If you would like to attend, please contact us 24 hours in advance by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org . Please click HERE to see our upcoming classes and to register.
Puppy Kindergarten is an 8 week class. The first week is an Orientation without the puppies. In this course you will learn some basic obedience and we will talk about your typical puppy-problems/challenges. But the most important part is that your puppy will be socialized. They will meet new people and other puppies. At the beginning of each class there will be a 15-20 minute off leash, carefully supervised play session. This is a fairly fast-paced class and you will be working toward a graduation with prizes! This class is $165 and includes the American Kennel Club Star Puppy Certification.
This class is for Puppy-K graduates that want to continue their training but also want to continue to properly socialize their dog. You may call or register online and start at any time. We work on what you are having issues with. For example, stay is a big one at this age, not jumping up on people when greeted, loose leash walking and waiting at door ways.
Requirements: Puppies must be under 1 year old. Only in connection with our 8 week Puppy Class. What is a STAR Puppy: This is an exciting new incentive program for loving dog owners who have taken the time to take their puppies through a basic training class. It can be viewed as a “pre” canine good citizen test, but is much more informal and will be “tested” during regular classes. A “S.T.A.R.” (Socialization, Training, Activity, Responsibility) Puppy will be listed in the AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy database and receive a neat “puppy package” (containing – among other things – a medal and a certificate) upon sending in their completed test form to the AKC.
We know that adding a new puppy to your family is a happy yet challenging time. We have designed this membership for the owner who wants a Certified Canine Good Citizen and most of all a well behaved dog. We offer unlimited email and phone support for all of the questions you may have along the way. The membership lasts a year, so be ready to train. When you join you receive free Puppy-K classes! You pay $200 down when you join and $39/month for 11 months. Please click here for more info.
We have 2 Obedience Classes. A "Good Dog!" Obedience and a "Excellent Dog!" Obedience. "Good Dog" is 8 weeks and $165 and "Excellent Dog is 5 weeks and $100. "Good Dog!" Obedience will give you the rudimentary fundamentals every dog should know then build on what you learned in fine-tune your skills as well as expand on them. "Excellent Dog!" Obedience will take you and your dog to the next level and by the end of that class you should be able to pass a Canine Good Citizen Test with no problems. Each of these classes will have a little "test" of your skills on graduation week. Since these Obedience skills build on one another, you can only advance to the next class if you master all the skills taught. There is 1 free "make up" session if you need more practice. Beyond that, we will, of course, help you out in private sessions.
This class is for our Advanced Clients (or clients that have "tested out"). Keep up with your training skills by learning "new" stuff or refine/refresh "the old". Sign up at least 24hrs ahead of time required!
If you want to do an agility class and learn basic agility techniques for exercise and fun, this is the class for you! This class comes in a "beginner" and "advanced" level. All dogs must know basic obedience cues like come, sit, down, stay/wait. No reactive/agressive dogs allowed (we have private agility sessions for you). Fun match at graduation.
Learn some basic, yet fun tricks, like "wave", "spin", "bow", "weave", "dead dog". Look for an advanced class to come soon! Must enroll for course.
Class is 8 weeks for $125.00 per dog.
Graduation is a fun competition for best tricks earning 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place ribbons. Prizes for everyone Check out this video: http://youtu.be/LGrZ5cIya0s
What is Treibball? It's a new competitive sport for all dogs all ages and sizes. It is great fun for any energetic dog who can learn to work well off-leash, loves to play chase games, loves to herd or who just needs a job! Fun and communication between the human and the canine partners is the true essence of this game. Treibball is a positive, fun sport that builds a great working relationship between owner and dog. (Dianna Stearns, M.A. CPDT-KA, CDBC, CATT) Unlike agility your dog can play this sport at any age and you don't have to worry about injuries or their joints.
"Rally-O" is a fun activity that combines elements of Obedience and Agility. It is more relaxed than precision competitive obedience, focusing instead on attitude and enthusiasm, while the variety of exercises and courses allows you to show off your teamwork on graduation day with a fun match!
By the end of this course, you and your dog will know how to perform all the exercises for novice Rally, and know how to read and complete a variety of Rally courses. You will gain the skills to be able to pass a Rally Novice trial. But whether you are interested in competing for Rally titles, or just want to try something new and fun with your dog, this is the sport for you!
As in agility, courses are designed by the judge and are different in every trial. Exhibitors receive a course map from the judge and can walk the course without their dogs prior to the start of the class. Judges design their courses by choosing from more than four dozen stations that direct handlers and dogs to perform specific exercises. A sign at each station gives instructions to the dog-handler team, and each team must execute the station's particular task within two-to-four feet of the sign. Once the judge gives the command "forward," the dog and handler complete the course on their own without further commands from the judge. Handlers may not use treats or toys in the ring, but may do anything else to encourage their dogs at the novice and advanced levels except physically touch them or make corrections with the leash. Encouragement is allowed at the excellent level but handlers cannot pat their legs or clap their hands as they can in novice and advanced classes. Signs instruct teams to go fast or slow, to halt (dog must sit at heel), to make turns and circles, to reverse direction, to do a sit-stay-recall, or to follow other basic obedience exercises.
Rally emphasizes fun and excitement for the dog/handler team while providing an interactive approach to obedience. The focus is on teamwork, communication and fun, rather than precision. The exercises involved in the course will help build your skills as a handler and increase your dog's repertoire of behaviors. Praise, encouragement, and continuous communication are permitted in this sport.
As it does with Obedience and Agility, AKC offers Rally titles at three levels: Novice, with on-leash exercises that demonstrate the dog's understanding of basic commands such as sit, stay, down, and come and heel position; Advanced, a set of exercises performed off-leash that includes at least one jump; and Excellent, a more difficult off-leash course that includes at least one jump and demonstrates more precise skill and coordination between the dog and handler. 8 weeks for $145 per dog
We have two options for you:
Private Lessons - Don't have agility equipment at home but need to practice? Do you just want to exercise your dog? Give him/her something else to do? Just have fun with your dog? Schedule a 30 minute practice session.
Agility Fun Class - Much like Pet Dog Agility above, but even more basic
This program is an intensive immersion program for your dog. You will tell us what issues to work on, we will tell you how long your dog has to stay with us to achieve your goals. We have a week-long program, 2 weeks or 4 weeks. Each program includes 2 - 1 hour transfer sessions in which we will show you what your dog learned and how to maintain their training. In addition, the 4 week package will receive 5 drop-in classes for free (a $100 value).
We are not a traditional boarding facility, however, we will accept dogs for boarding if you want them trained while they are staying with us. The Board and Train prices will apply. For the purpose of this program the price for 1 week = 7 nights. Any additional nights will be pro-rated by dividing the weekly price by 7.
This is the same intensive training program, but it is by day and at House of Dog. If your dog just needs a brush-up, or if you have a puppy that you don't want to drop off and not see again for 4 weeks, or if you don't have time to train with your pup - just drop your dog off in the morning and pick him up in the evening. Depending how long he is here, he'll receive 2-4 training sessions throughout the day. If you do 5 days in a row, you'll receive a free transfer session to transfer what he learned over to you so you can maintain it at home.
Requirement: Initial and Follow-up session WITH the owner
Busy, overworked or overwhelmed? Our Day Training option can help. We train your dog at your home or in your neighborhood twice a week for 2 weeks – and you don’t even have to be there. An initial consultation WITH you is required. At the end of the 2 weeks we will have a follow-up session with you, to refine your training plan and to answer questions. If more training is needed additional blocks of 2 sessions (includes a follow up) can be purchased at $50.
Requirements: By appointment only
How does your Lucky Dog become a Canine Good Citizen: The CGC program is designed to recognize dogs who have good manners at home and in the community. It stresses responsible dog ownership for owners and basic training and good manners for dogs. You can attend a basic training or CGC class to teach your dog the CGC behaviors (i.e. walking on a loose leash, coming when called, accepting a friendly stranger) or if you have the skills and knowledge, you can teach your dog the CGC skills. Dogs who pass the 10 step CGC test may receive a certificate from the American Kennel Club.
If you have done training previously and are not sure if your dog is ready, we offer a "prep session". We will go through all the requirements on the test and if any of the steps need work, we will give you tips on how to train for it.
If you have not have any prior training and the CGC is your ultimate goal, we recommend going through one of our obedience courses.
First of all, please click HERE to read about the differences between Service Dogs and Therapy Dogs. What is it that you want to train for? Yes, we can help you train for both. We don't have a set price or program, we will individually decide what is best for you and your dog and how to achieve your goals. Ideally you would want to get us involved BEFORE you adopt your rescue dog or acquire a dog for that purpose. We will help you temperament test and let you know from the get-go whether your da certain dog is suited for the task. - Neither Service Dogs nor Therapy Dogs require certification or registration, however, some institutions that allow Therapy Dogs will indeed require you to be registered with one of the many Therapy Dog Associations. Once your dog is ready for that step, we will refer you to our wonderful colleague who specializes in Therapy Dogs, Janice Mann.
TTouch classes as well as TTouch for puppies - look for announcements on start dates soon!
