House of Dog Training

I am a Colorado Springs native who has always had a passion for dogs. I fell in love with training after adopting my first dog Cyrus, an American Bully Mix from a local Springs rescue at age ten. At age sixteen, after excelling in training my own dog, I  decided that I wanted to learn more about how to train dogs and began interning under a former El Paso County Canine Officer. The methods used were far from positive and left a lot to be desired for me and the dogs. After some online research in 2011 I found the Certification Council for Pet Dog Trainers and began working under a certified trainer who was mentored directly by Dr. Ian Dunbar. I currently hold my CPDT-KA certification  and am working towards more certifications through the Pet Professional Guild. I also attend college and am working towards my Bachelor’s in Biochemistry with hopes of one day becoming a Veterinary Behaviorist.

Currently I have two dogs, an eight-year-old Shiba Inu named Ryuk and a three-year-old Alaskan Malamute/Siberian Husky mix named Fox Mulder. Ryuk is my first all positive trained dog and the results show! This Shiba loves people and dogs and loves to work. He even attained his CGC in 2015. Fox Mulder on the other hand has been a lot of work! As a puppy Fox was raised in a garage with his siblings, so he missed out on lots of important socialization. We have had to work through lots of behavioral problems but today he’s a brand-new dog!

I love competing in a couple different dog sports such as Barn Hunt and Lure Coursing, as well as Dryland Mushing with Fox when the temperatures allow.
